As part of recent announcements from the South African government, the Value Added Tax (VAT) rate will increase from 15% to 15.5%, effective 1 May 2025. This nationwide regulatory change will impact all VAT-applicable transactions across the country, including those processed through Tarsus Distribution.
What This Means for You as a Partner
From 1 May 2025, all invoices issued by Tarsus Distribution will reflect the revised 15.5% VAT rate. To ensure continuity and prevent any disruption in transactions, we strongly encourage you to:
-
Update your internal systems and financial records to reflect the new VAT rate.
-
Communicate this change to your finance or procurement teams to ensure alignment on upcoming invoicing.
-
Review any open or pending orders that may be affected by the rate adjustment.
VAT Display Change on TDP
In preparation for the VAT rate adjustment, all documentation and communication on the Tarsus Distribution Portal (TDP) will no longer specify the VAT rate (e.g. "15% VAT"). Instead, it will now simply reflect ‘VAT’ to accommodate future changes and avoid confusion.
This update applies to:
-
Quotes and invoices generated from the portal
-
Product pages and checkout summaries
-
Any VAT-related text across the TDP platform
Terms and Conditions Updated
In line with this change, we have also updated our standard terms and conditions to incorporate the revised VAT rate. These updated terms will come into effect on 1 May 2025.
